Manor Park Active Trails
Manor Park provides a tranquil and picturesque back drop for a lovely stroll, jog, or even run around the Park.
Manor Park is located on Manor Park Road, Glossop, SK13 7SH.
We have provided a few routes of different distances for you to enjoy, and the option of doing one or more laps. We have even mapped the bench locations, so you will know when there is the opportunity for a little rest if you need it, or just to enjoy the view!
The 2k and 5k route are the official parkrun and junior parkrun routes at Manor Park. These consist of three laps of the route for the 2k, and three laps of the 5k routes, to make up the distance of each, so you have the option of trying out one or two laps of these routes, either as a walk or jog whenever you choose, to familiarise yourself with the routes, or to use to begin to increase your fitness levels.
The Glossop parkrun 5k event is held every Saturday, and starts at 9am. It is free to join in, you just need to register once with parkrun, and bring along your barcode. Please see this link for more details: Glossop parkrun
You can download a map of the 5k route below.
The junior parkrun 2k takes place every Sunday at 9am. See this link for more details about Manor Park junior parkrun.
You can download a map of the 2k route below.
Whether it’s a walk with the family, exploring your local park, going as fast as you can or simply just adding variety to a walk or run.
Orienteering could be just the challenge you are looking for. Your mission is to reach checkpoints or ‘controls’ marked on a special
orienteering map. The skill and fun comes from trying to find the best route to take. Go in your time, go at your pace, go discover a whole new world of adventure in the park. Download a map below, or pick one up at the MyActive Glossop, (formally know as the Leisure Centre.)
Park Fitness – We have created 5 short videos, with exercises you can do in the open spaces around the park. These have 3 different levels of difficulty to try, and can be viewed below, or by the QR code on the large maps in the park.
View or download all maps below
We have set out an easy to follow whole body exercise routine for you to try in the open space of the park. Click on each link to watch a video of that exercise.
1 Plank
2 Lunge
3 Press Ups
4 Squat
5 Jacks
The exercises are designed to work the major muscles in the upper and lower body, your core (including your lower back) whilst getting the blood and oxygen flowing round your heart and lungs. Incorporating functional exercises into your daily routine allows the entire body to work together to produce optimal movements.
Benefits: improved balance, better posture and coordination, increased strength, and decreased chance of injury.
