Hope Valley Bike Collective – Any Bike Will Do!

The Hope Valley Bike Collective was established in the summer of 2025 in response to local feedback around inclusive bike groups and cycling skills. The group exists to bring people together across the Hope Valley, share skills and encourage people of all ages and abilities to cycle more in the Hope Valley.

This year they launched a monthly social ride which takes place the first Sunday of every month. Rain or shine, they gather together at Bamford Recreational ground for 10am and enjoy a gentle paced ride up to Ladybower Dams along Thornhill Trail.

Every ride offers something different; the trees turning more green, the air feeling (slightly!) warmer, the birds chirping. Jenny, who joined in on the March ride said, ‘I have not ridden a bicycle for about 15 years but was encouraged by this bike collective and the magnificent scenery to give it a go. The route made it a safe and enlivening experience, a good start after many years of not cycling.’

Most recently they held their special Easter edition, where everyone took part in an easter trail and enjoyed answering easter facts, jokes, and a couple of mini eggs too!

The group will be looking forward to the warmer months when they hope to cycle a bit further or perhaps stop on the way and learn about local projects including the rewilding on the trail.
