Together, our aim is for everyone across High Peak to move more every day and to provide greater support to those that need it most.

When we’re young, being active supports our bodies in developing properly, contributing to a strong heart, healthy bones, muscles, and brain development.

Research shows that physically active people experience higher levels of happiness, life satisfaction, and a sense of worth, while also being less likely to feel anxious. This is often due to the social interactions in sports and activities, where we meet new friends and share uplifting moments, whether playing a game in a park or being part of a local league team. For others, it’s about finding a greater sense of self-worth and resilience, or a combination of these and other positive factors. When we move, we become stronger.

There is overwhelming evidence of the life-changing benefits of being active, from childhood through old age. Each year, these benefits contribute billions of pounds in value to our healthcare systems, society, and economy.

I give great hugs now!

Just carrying my children upstairs, they wanted hug when they go to bed, the pain I was in was excruciating! With the help of pilates classes it hugely helped with that, I have gained back my strength and can now go back to the gym!

I have a whole new circle of friends!

The staff are lovely, very friendly and always helpful, they have become friends now. We all meet for coffee and its really nice to be with like minded people!

I had spinal surgery last year and was really struggling with leg pain and back pain, joining the Good Boost programme really helped physically and mentally.

I feel that I have been given a second chance ,my body is working better and cant thank the team enough for what they have done!

I absolutely love it!

My mental health has never been so good, joining the gym has improved my life, its fantastic!

The best thing I ever did!

I can walk up stairs now and do not need a walking stick!

I was very active and going to the gym two or three times a week after work and then I was taken poorly with fibromyalgia, I went from doing everything to doing nothing. I was told I was going to need a walking stick, I woke up one morning and thought .. I’ve got to do something about this, I have to do it for myself. , well now I don’t need a walking stick, I can stand up on two legs without it! I can bend my arms, I can walk up stairs, I can do it now and its all thanks to moving more!

Support for Health and Wellbeing Professionals

We are working to embed movement within integrated health and care systems, ensuring it is recognised, prioritised and supported by healthcare professionals, commissioners, carers, and wider community work, such as social prescribing, weight management and mental health services. At the same time, we want to support the health and care workforce to have conversations about moving more. To find out more and explore our resources click here.
